Aigre-Doux: Melissa Ferreira's exhibition in Pont-Aven

"Anything in any way beautiful derives its beauty from itself and asks nothing beyond itself. Praise is no part of it, for nothing is made worse or better by praise."
- Marcus Aurelius.

I should follow the thought of my favorite philosopher and be quiet here. Meanwhile, how can I resist to put a few words about the great time I had at Melissa Ferreira's opening show, called "Aigre-Doux" ["Bittersweet"]. Located in Pont-Aven, Bretagne. The city gave a unique set to the show where I had the chance to meet the artist. Very energic, delicate and with a great sense of humour, those qualities are obviously reflected in her art. One of the most fresh, powerful and inspiring I had the chance to saw lately. And see it in person was a constant delight for the eyes.
I wish you will apologies me for the bad quality of my photographies here, they can not bring justice to Melissa's talent.

The audience watching Melissa's sketchbooks, full of little jewels in collage/mixed media.

A very typical house of Pont-Aven area, wich make me wonder how's Bretagne culture/lifestyle have influenced/feed her art.

If you want see more Melissa's art, you should visit her beautyful website.
Hope you enjoy that post, and if you are near Pont-Aven, that you will take the time to take a look at "Aigre-Doux".
Au revoir.
J.

I know how much you were looking forward to this show and meeting Melissa, and I now only wish her show was held around the time I was in the area!
Thank you for sharing your experience of that evening. I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

By the way, I love that quote.

Wow, her artwork is fantastic. Thanks for sharing, it must have been a good time.

Viewing her works makes me inspired, lazy and jealous all at the same time, ha, ha.
